This policy explains the difference between the NType editor, the download/update bootstrapper and the website that delivers the software.
The NType editor is designed to work locally on your Windows computer. The editor does not include an account system, advertising, analytics, telemetry or cloud synchronisation. It is not designed to upload the content of files you open or edit.
In short: your normal editing activity stays on your device.
The NType download bootstrapper uses the network only to obtain current release metadata and the published installer from the official NType distribution location. It verifies release integrity before starting setup. These requests necessarily expose ordinary connection information to the hosting/CDN infrastructure, such as an IP address, request time, requested path and standard HTTP metadata.
The NType website is a static site. It does not intentionally set marketing cookies or include advertising or behavioural analytics in the supplied site code. The hosting and CDN infrastructure may process routine technical request data required to deliver, secure and operate the site.
NType does not operate a cloud document service. Your local documents are not sent to an NType account or cloud storage system by the editor. If you choose to use third-party services separately from NType, their own privacy terms apply.
Optional Explorer context-menu integration changes local Windows settings so files can be opened more conveniently with NType. This configuration is performed on the local computer.
NType uses third-party software components including Scintilla and Lexilla under their respective permissive licences. Their inclusion does not create an NType cloud account or telemetry service.
This policy may be updated when NType's functionality, website or distribution process changes. The effective date above will be updated when material revisions are made.
